A Kitchen As Unique As You Are

There is no such thing as one size fits all when it comes to kitchens and why should there be? We are all completely different people with unique needs and requirements. Therefore, our kitchens need to be as unique as we are. What may appeal about the kitchen to a first time buyer may not be what appeals to an older couple or a larger family.

In this blog post we look at the different types of personalities and requirements of a kitchen, and recommend the best kitchen home improvements for each type.

Renters

If you rent your home you won’t want to spend lots of money improving your kitchen, but there are small changes you can make to love your kitchen more. Make sure you speak to your landlord before making any changes. You will need their approval, but you may also find that they want to pay towards the cost of the changes. Simple upgrades like a lick of paint or new handles can make a huge difference to the kitchen.

Entertainers

If you love entertaining at home, then you’ll know that people always gravitate towards the kitchen at house parties; so make it something special. All the appliances that are on show must be the best kitchen appliances out there. If you have the room put an island in the middle of the kitchen as this helps change the traffic pattern and look of a kitchen quickly and effectively. Plus it gives more lean room for guests, and storage room for you.

Young Families

If you have a young family then avoid stainless steel items at child height. This material is really ‘smudgy’ and no matter how often you clean it, you’ll always find finger prints! Consider low cupboards and draws and how easy little fingers can get trapped in them. Either use child-friendly catches on doors, or raise your kitchen cupboards above floor height.

Empty Nesters

If your children have moved out and you are choosing to stay in the family home, then look at all the extra space you have available and what you can do with it. You no longer need 20 types of cereal, or dozens of cereal bowls so have a clear out of what you don’t need and look at kitchen improvements that can be made in the kitchen so you enjoy your home and kitchen space more.

Cooking Lover

If you love cooking then think about the available work space you have in your kitchen, but also how easy it is to get to all your ingredients. You don’t want to spend ages digging around cupboards to get to essential spices so why not look at storage options that make storage easier for you and the whole family?
